Calgary Summer Adventure Packages

Why Families Choose a Calgary Summer Adventure Package

The story behind our packages, and why bundling a hotel stay with Calgary’s best attractions makes for a better family trip.

Our approach

Built around how families actually plan trips

Calgary has no shortage of things for families to do in the summer — the Calgary Zoo, Calaway Park, Heritage Park, and a long list of indoor and outdoor attractions spread across the city. The challenge isn’t finding things to do; it’s putting them together into a trip that actually flows, without spending an entire evening cross-referencing hotel booking sites and attraction ticket pages.

Calgary Adventure packages exist to solve that specific problem. We pair two hotel partners — Deerfoot Inn & Casino and Service Plus Inns & Suites — with a curated list of the city’s strongest family attractions, and combine them into a single, straightforward package. You choose the pieces that fit your family; we handle putting them together.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all tour package with a fixed itinerary. Every family that books chooses their own mix of attractions, their own dates, and their own hotel, based on their kids’ ages, their energy levels, and their budget. The package structure just removes the coordination work that usually eats into the fun part of planning a trip.

We built this around a simple observation: the families who enjoy their Calgary trip the most aren’t the ones who cram in the longest list of attractions, they’re the ones who picked a smaller number of the right attractions and had enough time to actually enjoy each one. That’s the philosophy behind every package we put together — fewer, better-chosen stops over a well-paced itinerary, rather than a checklist rushed from one place to the next.

What makes this worth booking

The practical reasons families keep choosing packages over piecing a trip together

One booking, not six

Hotel and attractions arranged together under a single confirmation, instead of juggling separate bookings, separate emails, and separate payments.

A curated attraction list

Rather than sifting through every option in Calgary, you’re choosing from a shortlist of attractions genuinely worth a family’s time.

Two hotel styles to match your budget

A full-service stay at Deerfoot Inn & Casino, or a simpler, budget-friendly stay at Service Plus Inns & Suites — both built around the same attractions.

Itineraries that actually make sense

Attractions sequenced to balance big, full-day outings with shorter, lower-energy stops, so the trip doesn’t burn everyone out by day two.

A trip that fits the family, not the other way around

No two bookings look the same

A family with a toddler and a ten-year-old builds a very different package than a group of teenagers and their parents. That’s the point — the package structure flexes around your family instead of asking your family to flex around a fixed tour schedule. Younger kids tend to anchor a trip around the Calgary Zoo, Heritage Park, and Mini Golf & Arcade, while older kids and teens gravitate toward Calaway Park, House of Skate, and the Flying Squirrel.

Multi-generational groups often lean toward Deerfoot Inn & Casino, where grandparents have the option of the on-site casino for a quiet evening while the rest of the family winds down after a big day out. Families on a longer road trip through southern Alberta more often choose Service Plus Inns & Suites, keeping the hotel budget lean so there’s more room for attraction tickets and the other stops on their route.

Wherever your family lands on that spectrum, the same underlying idea applies: pick the hotel and attractions that fit your trip, and let the package handle stitching them together.

“We didn’t want to spend our first night in Calgary comparing five browser tabs of hotel and ticket prices. Booking it as one package meant we actually got to the zoo the next morning instead of still planning.”

Frequently asked questions

A few things families ask before their first package booking

Is a package actually cheaper than booking everything separately?

Bundling typically saves on both cost and time compared to arranging a hotel and each attraction individually, and it removes the risk of double-booking or mismatched scheduling.

Do we have to pick from the full attractions list, or can we suggest something else?

Our list covers the attractions we can reliably bundle into a package, but let us know if there’s something specific your family has in mind — we’re happy to see what can be arranged.

How far in advance should we book for summer?

Summer is Calgary’s busiest family travel season, so booking a few weeks ahead helps secure both your preferred hotel and your first-choice attraction dates.

What sets Calgary apart as a family destination

Beyond the mountains, there’s a city built for family trips

Calgary tends to get treated as a stopover on the way to Banff, but that undersells what the city itself offers. The Calgary Zoo alone is one of the country’s most respected zoological parks, and Heritage Park is the largest living history museum in Canada — both destinations in their own right, not just a way to pass time before heading to the mountains.

The city’s layout also works in families’ favor. Unlike sprawling metros where attractions are scattered an hour apart in every direction, Calgary’s major family attractions cluster reasonably close together, especially on the southeast side near Deerfoot Trail. That means less time in the car and more time actually doing things, which matters enormously with young kids whose patience for long drives runs thin fast.

And because Calgary sits at the edge of the Rockies, families who want to extend their trip westward into Banff or Canmore can do so easily, making a Calgary-based package a natural first or last leg of a longer Alberta vacation rather than a destination that competes with the mountains for attention.

How we choose our hotel partners

Not every hotel in Calgary makes the list

We work with a small number of hotel partners rather than offering every property in the city, and the reasoning is straightforward: each one needs to genuinely suit a family traveling with kids, sit within reasonable reach of our attractions list, and offer a level of comfort and service that holds up over a multi-night stay.

Deerfoot Inn & Casino earned its place through its southeast location and the flexibility it offers multi-generational groups, with a separate adults-only space that doesn’t interfere with the family side of the property.

Service Plus Inns & Suites earned its place by doing the basics well at a fair price — clean rooms, a practical location, and none of the added cost of amenities that many traveling families don’t end up using anyway.

As our packages grow, we’re evaluating additional hotel partners using the same standard: would a family actually enjoy staying here for three or four nights while spending their days out at Calgary’s attractions.
